Welcome to the
Housing Options wizard.

This tool will ask a series of questions and then guide you through the different options you can explore to enhance your housing situation. You will then be able to access this to interact with the homelessness service if you are required to.

Why not just wait for a Social Housing tenancy

Social housing is in great demand. There are over 5600 people currently on the Newark and Sherwood District Council's housing register, therefore as a homelessness service we will look at all housing options to resolve your homelessness. This may include a privately rented property, a house share, or supported accommodation.

The housing options given as part of this plan will give you some alternatives to social housing like those mentioned above, and this may make it easier and quicker for you to move house, or to meet your needs while staying in your current home.

What housing options are available?

There are lots of different options available but they are not suitable for everyone. Using this wizard you will be able to see which options are suitable for you. Some of the available options include:

  • Money and benefits advice
  • Jobs and training advice
  • Adaptations to your existing home
  • Mortgage advice
  • Shared ownership
  • Private rented
  • Mutual exchange
  • Social housing (general needs and older persons)
  • Supported housing
  • Other support services including floating support
